The Grapefruit Diet

This Grapefruit Diet was one of the fad diets that were extremely popular in the 1980s were based on another diet invented in 1930. Quite for a long time the grapefruit diet has been considered by experts as hazardously unbalanced or simply unable to fulfill its promises.

Nutritionist stated that consuming vast quantities of grapefruit cannot influence weight loss at all, which made this diet another fad diet, one of those things crowd go mad about without any real reason. Luckily, time has passed and new disclosures are about to extend the traditional view.

This diet was based on the idea that you should eat grapefruit whenever you can, drink a glass of natural and unsweetened grapefruit juice with every food intake, add grapefruit to salads and cocktails. Grapefruit is considered to go smoothly with the lean meat from crab and chicken and with vegetables. The main advantage of this diet is the fact that grapefruit is totally fat-free and has few calories. A wholesome grapefruit has about 70 calories, which means that you can eat up to the ears and still lose weight.

Another advantage of the Grapefruit Diet is a recent research executed by a team of scientists - the study revealed that, contrary to the opinions expressed by experts in the 1980s, adding grapefruit and grapefruit juice to your diet can force you lose weight. And the apogee of this diet is that you don’t have to change your eating habits at all. Commonly, consuming less fat and sweets and doing some exercises is a best way of speeding up the weight loss process, but you don’t need to change anything in your way with this diet.

Study also shows that consuming half a grapefruit before each food intake and exercising a bit every day helped a group of fatty people drop an average 1.6 kilos in 12 weeks without any change in their eating habits whatsoever. Another bunch of testers had to drink one glass of grapefruit juice before every meal and lost 1.4 kilos in the same 12 weeks. Although losing 0.4 kilo per month gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “slow diet” but what a diet will let you eat whatever you like and still shed almost half a kilo pound per month? If you don’t need to lose your weight quickly, then you can stick to this diet for a long time and reap the benefits.
